Absolutely delightful! Chill vibes, friendly Staff and the food… amazing! On warm days it’s really nice to sit outside, watch the people walk by and to enjoy your meal. The Reuben toastie is nice and crunchy on the outside, and generously filled, delicious. Their flat white is great too (as almost always in Melbourne). If you dine in you get a free bottle of water. :)

Great atmosphere, super popular for midweek. Offers solid coffee and a menu bigger than your face! Something here for everyone including freshly grinded juices, specials like the salt & pepper French toast with bacon, pecorino and tomato salsa (pictured). Absolutely full of flavour, will certainly be popping on again. Baby friendly with high chairs at the ready though could be a squeeze in busier periods.

I have been religiously visiting hot poppy for breakfast whenever iam in Melbourne since randomly stumbling on it about 8years ago. All ill say is I get the maple Bacon everytime... (and the coffee never disappoints either!) Highly recommend!

We were looking for an early spot for breakfast and we stumbled across this little gem. The staff were so kind and helpful. The food was delicious and hit the spot, eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs. I'd definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Small cozy breakfast place with solid menu that's not too dependent on egg dishes. Coffee was on the small side, but very nice and made well. Great for a morning brunch with couples or friends, not overly child friendly.

My favourite breakfast spot in Melbourne. Whether its just for coffee or food, this place excels. The staff are friendly and prompt and the prices are very good. North Melbourne is only a 25min work from the CBD and will serve tourists much better than any of the traps like Degraves Ln.

I'm a self-confessed foodie, and with the size and variety of Melbourne's vaguely hipster-chic brunch scene, it's easy to literally never eat at the same place twice. But I always come back to Hot Poppy! And I always order the same thing - the Mawby Cubano toastie, pickles on the side. Their service - and servers - are lovely, the coffee is fresh and hot, and the food is reasonably priced (around $15 for a frankly ENORMOUS sandwich that takes me right through the day). It's got a super cute vibe and I've had plenty of dates here with my partner. He always gets the full breakfast spread, and basically licks the plate clean at the end. :)

Hot Poppy rocks. Great food, busy ass place. Bear in mind these guys work reaaaal hard in a very cramped space. At busy times such as sunday brekkkie/lunch there is often some, snotty, arty farty peeps, getting snippy that their rainforest approved coffee and organic fed goats milk latte took longer than five minutes. Ignore 'em. You need to be patient when its busy and if there is ever a wait here its always worth it. Portions are huge, hot , fresh, and served with a smile and often will make whet you want and how you want with zero fuss. Staff are fab and never had anything bad here.
